Max Borten, M.D., J.D.
Dr. Borten obtained his medical degree in 1971 and his law degree in 1987. In
the medical field, Dr. Borten completed a residency in Obstetrics and
Gynecology at the Beth Israel Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts. Dr. Borten also
completed a fellowship in Infertility and Reproductive Endocrinology. Dr. Borten is
Board Certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology.

Dr. Borten then joined the faculty at Harvard Medical School first at the Beth
Israel Hospital (now Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center) and then at the
Massachusetts General Hospital. As a member of the Harvard Medical School
faculty, Dr. Borten taught obstetrics and gynecology to residents and medical
students. Based on his medical research activities and publications, Dr. Borten
authored hundreds of medical articles and authored and co-authored several
medical and medicolegal books.Dr. Borten wrote the first book in the United
States dealing with "Laparoscopic Complications- Prevention and Management"
published in 1986. Dr. Borten  practiced obstetrics and gynecology  and retired
from the Harvard Medical School faculty with the rank of Associate Professor of
Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Biology.

Max Borten, M.D., J.D. is a senior partner at Gorovitz & Borten. Because of his
background, Dr. Borten is uniquely qualified to evaluate and undertake the
representation of your case. Dr. Borten has been a practicing physician since
1971 in the field of obstetrics and gynecology. Dr. Borten has over 35 years of
operating room gynecological surgical experience, and 35 years of labor and
delivery room obstetrical experience. Dr. Borten was an Associate Professor of
Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Biology at Harvard Medical School,
where he taught medical students, residents and physicians in postgraduate
lectures and conferences.

In the legal field, Dr. Borten was also a member of the Adjunct faculty at the
Suffolk School of Law where he taught for 11 years on the subject of
Reproductive Biology and the Law and Medical Practice and the Law. Dr. Borten
focuses his legal practice in the field of medical malpractice. Dr. Borten is
admitted to practice law in the State of Massachusetts (Superior Court, Appeals
Court and Supreme Judicial Court) and is also admitted to practice law in the
Federal Court System (District Court, Federal Appeals Court and United States
Supreme Court).
In 2008, Dr. Borten was named Massachusetts Lawyer of the Year by
Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly
.
Dr. Borten personally reviews every medical malpractice case filed by the law firm
of Gorovitz & Borten and participates in the discovery process leading up to
alternative dispute resolution (mediation, arbitration) or  trial.
